The exchange said that any U.S. dollar deposits would be returned to their owner (minus transaction fees.) They further indicated that users can withdraw their current dollar balances.

Uruguay Approves Crowdfunding Law Also on September 12, the Uruguayan government passed a law that will regulate crowdfunding and other forms of collecting financing, which could include initial coin offerings (ICOs). According to Paula Rodríguez Medalla, who is a local lawyer, the law establishes a "new legal framework" for certain ICOs. She added that those who issue ICOs in the country will have to pay close attention to directives issued by the Central Bank of Uruguay.

The Largest Bank in Venezuela Announces Support for the Petro The Bank of Venezuela, which is the largest in the country, announced this week that it will allow its customers to make transactions in Petro, which is the government's official digital currency. Users of the bank's online banking system now have access to a dedicated cryptocurrency section. So far, it only supports Petro, but more currencies could be added in the future.
