Coinbase, which is one of North America's largest cryptocurrency exchanges, has just announced a new addition to their board of directors. This person is finance veteran Chris Dodds, who currently sits on the board of Charles Schwab and who will also help the exchange develop its financial services offerings. Over the years, Dobbs has held many important jobs in the financial industry. At Schwab he has been a vice president of both Mergers and Acquisitions and Corporate Finance. He has also served as the Treasurer, Corporate Controller and Chief Financial Officer of the pioneering discount brokerage, which is based in San Francisco and currently holds more than $3 trillion in assets for its millions of customers. These customers also include more than a million banking clients. Brian Armstrong, who is one of the co-founders of Coinbase and its CEO, said that Dodds not only brings extensive leadership skills to the exchange, but that his knowledge of the financial services industry and his many years of financial experience will help the exchange as it attempts to scale its business. The announcement is the latest of many high-profile personnel acquisitions for Coinbase in recent months. In September, they hired Brian Brooks, who was once General Counsel for Fannie Mae and who is now their Chief Legal Officer. They also hired Michael Li, who was once an executive for LinkedIn and who is now Coinbase's Vice President of Data. In the summer, they also added Tim Wagner — who previously held executive positions at both Microsoft and Amazon Web Services — as their VP of engineering, and they hired former Pershing executive Jeff Horowitz as their Chief Compliance Officer. The personnel moves come at a time in which the exchange is releasing a new edition of what they call "Coinbase Bundles," which is being touted as a way to quickly and easily purchase a selection of the 5 digital currencies the exchange currently offers based on their market value. These currencies include Bitcoin, Ethereum, Ethereum Classic, Litecoin and Bitcoin Cash.
