The U.S.-based private non-profit organization American National Standards Institute (ANSI) is set to have a discussion related to the topics of artificial intelligence (AI) and blockchain technology. They'll discuss these particular subjects at their next Legal Issues and Joint Member Forum. The latest news came from an announcement on Monday (Sept. 17). The big event will take place during World Standards Week (WSW) in mid-October. In the ANSI announcement, they note that healthcare, transportation, and food safety experts will be among those attending the forum to speak on the topics of blockchain and AI. The upcoming forum is called "Empowered by Innovation: Cutting-Edge Technologies Driving Real-World Solutions." Those in attendance will talk about how blockchain or artificial intelligence can be applied in different ways. In addition, they'll talk about legal and ethical concerns in those areas. ANSI is currently made up of more than 125,000 different companies. They include many corporations, international organizations, as well as academic and government groups. The "Empowered by Innovation" Forum will allow standardization leaders to give their insight on how to help to assess blockchain and artificial intelligence standards can help to deploy these technologies for real-world applications or innovation. The Nuclear Energy Standards Coordination Collaborative (NESCC) is among the nine standard panels in the ANSI. This panel determines any standards needs within the nuclear industry. The World Economic Forum (WEF) put out a "Building Block(chain)s for a Better Planet" report to outline over 65 use cases for blockchain in terms of solving environmental issues. The report indicated that establishing a "responsible" and "global" blockchain ecosystem is what's needed next for bringing blockchain to assist with environmental protection. The forum is scheduled to take place on Tuesday, October 16 at the Washington DC FHI 360 Conference Center. The Legal Issues Forum will run from 12:30 p.m. through 4:30 p.m. Eastern Time, while ANSI's Joint Member Forum "Empowered by Innovation" begins at 9 a.m. and runs through 4:30 p.m. as well.
